About the Role:
We are seeking a creative and motivated Assistant Editor/Producer to support our content creation efforts. The ideal candidate will work closely with our team to produce high-quality multimedia content that aligns with our mission, vision, and the personal brands of CEO and Co-Founders. A key part of this role will involve building out our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system and organizing existing media assets for efficient usage.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Production:
- Assist in producing, editing, and finalizing video and audio content for social media platforms, websites, podcasts, and webinars.
- Support the creation of storytelling work including: shorts, documentaries, and content pieces featuring veterans and VETS advocacy work, as well .
Pre-Production Editing:
- Edit raw footage into engaging content that adheres to brand guidelines and messaging before going to social media manager for final sign off.
- Incorporate graphics, animations, sound effects, and music to enhance content quality.
Digital Asset Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Digital Asset Management (DAM) system for VETS leveraging latest AI / Technology (e.g. https://pics.io or something similar).
- Organize, catalog, and maintain an archive of all media assets, including video clips, audio files, images, and project files.
- Establish metadata standards and tagging conventions to ensure easy retrieval and usage of assets.
- Train team members on how to use the DAM system effectively.
Content Strategy Support:
- Assist in scheduling and publishing content across various platforms, ensuring consistency and timeliness.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with Marcom team to ensure on-brand messaging and visual brand expression.
Technical Management:
- Ensure all equipment and software used are up-to-date and functioning properly.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to media production and asset management.
Candidate Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Information Management, Communications, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in video editing and production, preferably in a non-profit or advocacy setting.
- Proven experience with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, or similar tools.
- Experience in developing and managing Digital Asset Management systems.
- Familiarity with content production for social media platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and podcasts.
Skills:
- Strong storytelling abilities with a keen eye for visual aesthetics.
- Excellent technical skills in video and audio editing.
- Proficiency in DAM software and best practices for asset organization.
- Understanding of metadata standards and digital archiving.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits
This is an independent contractor position with compensation based on experience. The time commitment is ad-hoc and is generally estimated at 10-15 hours per week, with flexibility based on project needs. No health benefits are provided.
