Why This Win Matters
New Jersey took a major step forward with the passage of S2283, landmark legislation establishing a state-run multi-million dollar psilocybin research pilot program. The bill positions New Jersey as a national leader in expanding research to build toward FDA-approved use within the health-care system.
Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions (VETS) played a key role in advancing S2283 by elevating veteran voices, educating lawmakers on the clinical evidence, and helping shape a framework centered on safety, oversight, and outcomes—ensuring veterans and patients with severe mental-health needs remained at the heart of the policy.
VETS' Role
S2283 is for families who have lived in survival mode for years, carrying invisible wounds long after the uniform comes off. I am deeply grateful to the Representatives who listened to families like mine and to the Governor for signing this bill and making safe, supervised care possible here at home.
