On November 15, 2025, VETS welcomed 445 guests to the iconic Hotel del Coronado for the return of our Annual Torchbearer Ball—an unforgettable evening where community, policy, and purpose came together at a pivotal moment for veteran mental health.
Inspired by In Waves and War, the night immersed guests in a powerful visual and narrative experience, highlighting the urgent need to expand access to innovative care for veterans. From red carpet arrivals to an elegant three-course dinner, every moment reflected the strength, resilience, and shared mission of those committed to supporting veterans.
A moving performance by Broadway vocalist Kelsie Watts brought the room to its feet, setting the tone for an evening of connection and momentum. The program featured voices from across the mission—grant recipients, researchers, and national policy leaders—each reinforcing a clear message: effective solutions exist, and now it’s time to ensure access.
The 2025 Torchbearer Award was presented to In Waves and War directors Jon Shenk and Bonni Cohen, honoring their commitment to authentic storytelling and their role in advancing awareness around veteran healing.
Keynote speaker Bryan Hubbard, alongside remarks from VETS co-founders Amber and Marcus Capone, underscored the path forward—one driven by research, advocacy, and collective action.
The evening continued with a dynamic live auction and paddle raise, supporting expanded access to care for veterans. Guests also gathered for a powerful after party presented by Black Rifle Coffee Company, featuring a fireside chat with Sebastian Junger and a late-night set from DJ Mafu.
An exclusive VIP reception brought together national and state leaders for a forward-looking conversation on policy and progress, highlighting the growing momentum behind expanding access to psychedelic-assisted therapies for veterans.
