Role Summary
VETS is seeking an experienced Human Resources Coordinator contractor to support HR-related projects and workflows as-needed. This contractor will collaborate with the Chief of Staff and other team leads on a project basis to assist with tasks such as drafting job descriptions, facilitating recruitment processes, and preparing onboarding materials.
The ideal contractor is highly organized, proactive, and able to manage their own workflow while delivering high-quality work within agreed-upon timelines.
Key Responsibilities (Project-Based Deliverables)
The contractor may be engaged to support projects including, but not limited to:
- Drafting, editing, and updating job descriptions based on project specifications provided by VETS.
- Assisting with recruiting-related tasks such as posting job listings, reviewing resumes, and coordinating interview logistics.
- Preparing draft candidate communications (interview confirmations, follow-ups, and offer letter templates).
- Organizing onboarding materials and providing draft checklists for new-hire processes.
- Preparing welcome email templates and related communication drafts.
- Maintaining and organizing shared HR documentation systems.
- Assisting with scheduling introductions or onboarding touchpoints when requested.
- Ensuring all deliverables are professional, accurate, and submitted within agreed-upon timeframes.
- Handling sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in HR coordination, recruiting, or operations (nonprofit or startup experience is a plus)
- Strong writing and communication abilities
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Proficiency with GSuite tools (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and scheduling platforms (Calendly, Zoom)
- Able to manage multiple projects independently
- Passion for mission-driven work is a plus
Compensation Structure
- Independent Contractor role (1099)
- Flexible hours — contractor sets their own schedule
- Approx. 10–15 hours/week, depending on active projects
- Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience
- Contractor must provide their own equipment and tools
- Contractor must be authorized to work in the U.S.
