About the Role:
The Development Coordinator supports VETS’ resource development goals by assisting with fundraising administration, donor relations, and event coordination. This role plays a vital part in maintaining accurate records, supporting donor stewardship, and helping to execute development initiatives that advance VETS’ mission.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and passionate about supporting innovative solutions in veteran mental health. Depending on experience, this position may also include managing a small mid-level donor portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Fundraising Administration
- Maintain accurate records of donor information, gifts, and pledges
- Process donations and ensure timely acknowledgments
- Assist with donor research, list pulls, and campaign or grant preparation
- Support fundraising campaigns via Classy, GoFundMe Pro, or BetterUnite
Database Management
- Manage donor CRM (Salesforce) and marketing platform (Pardot)
- Accurately enter gift data and generate reports as needed
- Ensure data integrity for compliance and internal reporting
- Dashboard-building experience is a plus
Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Prepare and send donor acknowledgments and tax receipts
- Support donor communication and engagement activities
- Assist with stewardship of existing supporters and cultivation of new prospects
- Conduct donor and funder prospect research
Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the Development team
- Assist with scheduling, file and document management, and campaign logistics
- Support the planning and execution of development-related events
Qualifications:
- Strong alignment with VETS’ mission and values
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Proactive self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Experience with fundraising CRMs (Salesforce preferred)
- Comfortable working in a remote environment with a distributed team
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to shifting deadlines
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, marketing, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in fundraising, project coordination, or nonprofit administration
- Experience in donor research and/or prospect cultivation
- Familiarity with peer-to-peer fundraising platforms (e.g., Classy, BetterUnite)
- Background in community development, fundraising, or communications
- Personal or professional connection to the military, special operations community, or alternative mental health therapies is a plus
Compensation & Schedule:
- Full-time employee position (40 hours per week)
- Salary commensurate with experience
- Flexible schedule, with occasional evening or weekend hours to support events or deadlines
