Celebrating Courage Through Story

In 2025, VETS proudly honors Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, the visionary directors behind the Netflix documentary In Waves and War. Their work represents not only extraordinary cinematic achievement, but rare moral courage, telling complex, deeply human stories that demand attention, empathy, and action.

Through In Waves and War, Cohen and Shenk illuminate the struggles and triumphs of the veteran community with honesty and reverence, giving voice to experiences often left unseen. By bringing this film to a global audience through Netflix, they have amplified a message of hope and healing that extends far beyond the screen, reinforcing VETS' mission to end veteran suicide and expand access to psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Their storytelling educates, inspires, and catalyzes change, reminding the world that healing is possible, resilience is real, and transformation begins when stories are told with integrity.
